Are you tired of searching for that perfect art piece to fill up that blank space on you wall? Here’s a creative and modern way to fill the blank canvas. You have the choice to create your own unique stencil or buy one online that’s fit your theme.
First start by evaluating the room you’ve decided to change. Figure out which color will set the right mood and go with the theme you’ve picked.
I chose my kitchen, a pale yellow outdated boring color that didn’t make sense design wise. So I picked a baby blue that matched the counter tops, tile floor, and stainless steel appliance.
Now it’s time to decide on the stencil and what color the stencil is going to be. I chose the lightest blue, almost white, on the same swatch as the wall color.
For my stencil I didn’t want to pay $50 for something I could make myself. It cost me about $8 at the local Michael’s for 6 sheets of transparent paper. I drew my design on a piece of computer paper then traced it on transparent paper. I cut each one out separately with an x-acto knife. After that I lined them up correctly and taped them with masking tape.
Now it’s time to start the masterpiece!
Start at a point on the wall where the stencil can fill the most space without creating a half-stencil. Make sure to use a laser level and if you don’t have one make sure the stencil moves across straight by backing up and looking each time the stencil is moved.
Make sure to use two coats so the paint is consistent.
Each time the stencil is moved make sure to overlap the previous design to collaborate the piece together.
Moving across or down is up to whatever you’re comfortable with.
After a few paintings I would recommend removing the access paint on the stencil so it doesn’t continuously build up. I would let it dry and the paint will peel right off.
Now you have a finished, beautifully done, unique focal wall, and you won’t have to worry about trying to find an art piece to put up because the whole wall is the art.
Almost finished..don’t forget the bottom! Cutting the stencil will make the bottom portion a lot easier.
